The kingfisher has goldish orange stomach ,black and blue wings. It likes to eat fish and crayfish. They live in burrows on the edges of streams, lakes and ponds.Sometimes they fly on to a branch look down at the water and wait for a  fish to pop out and then they will soar like an eagle down to the pond and catch it.

Te Taha wai

    Te Tehawai Marae

Marae is said to be tapu meaning sacred. It started when you step foot through the waharoa. They do the call or karanga and that was the call of  welcome to their marae,  haere mai e nga manuhiri. When they do a karanga  we the manuhiri walked forward in a slow pace. When we got to the Marae’s entrance we had to take off our shoes. We got inside the marae and they (whaea) said a couple of things. After that we had to answer with a song, we sang Tu turi mai nga iwi and we did it with actions to the tangata whenua.

The next thing was that we had to either shake hands or do a hongi so I did a hongi.  Then we had to wash our hands before we had to eat. We ate one cookie and drank a cup of water. Later on when everyone finished,  Room five had to go to the other room while we stayed and weaved a kite. it was really fun. It had three squares on one side and two next to it, if you turned it over there were two squares and next to that was three squares it looks amazing.

When we finished we had to do a dance and the thing I liked best about the dance was the chorus. After that, we went to the other room and room 5 came to where we ate. What we did at the next room was we had to get a picture and drew patterns in it that I think was special. After that the boys did a haka. I liked the part when we did the dance because it was a nice dance to go with the song.

Rangitoto trip

Wow! That is the coolest thing I have ever seen, I am sitting down eating my lunch looking at the beautiful Island across Mission Bay, the Rangitoto Island.

One of my best friends is sitting down on the green grass eating  lunch away with me. Rangitoto is just across the shore.  I am thinking the Sisters are lucky to have a beautiful view outside their gorgeous house.Next to their house is a fountain shaped as a ball , two statues one is Mother Mary  and the other is Saint Joseph. Next to where the room 4 is  sitting  are benches  set up to view the stunning island.  Mr. T, our lovable caretaker is eating his lunch in the bench. He must be enjoying the view from where he is sitting.
I can feel lollies falling on me. Everyone is standing up yelling to one of the sisters for a lolly scramble. I pick up a lolly and taste it - tastes delicious. It feels like right now I can do that whole day again I can feel the sun across my face . I can  feel the beautiful light breeze sweeping on my face. I  can see the lovely view from outside of the house. I can see the wonderful birds flying free in the air, and smell the wonderful flowers and the sea. All these things really impress me.

As Mrs Kopua  is telling us to go back to the bus I am  feeling sad that the day has ended.  So now I am going back to school to have some milk and to have some time on the play ground.

An asteroid takes a stop to earth

One day ago  an asteroid passed through earth tearing down many trees. Astronomers watch as the asteroid speeds across the earth. This happened in New Zealand at 6am yesterday. The asteroid was 40,000 kilometres away in space.None of the people saw. People thought that the asteroid happened because the asteroid might have lost it’s way through the asteroid belt and came in the direction of Earth.

R.E Prayer

walking with the light

Lord,
Thank you for the beautiful nature outside, You showed me how much a flower means to you. This flower smells like honey from a bee, looks like shallow highlights of the suns rays and it feels as soft as a feather flying through the wind. You showed your love in nature.

Thank you lord for your love of nature .

Long ago there lived on an island of savaii a young couple.

The man was called away to fulfil and unfortunate an inspected duty to king

went with him.
They never made it to see Malie Tuafainga instead they went to the island of Tui Tuila.
They lived for many months with tye chief Le tui, whose kindness never went

They feared that sooner or later the secret of their disappear

After unrolling the Gods for their families they gave up their lives .
But alone a merciful God had meaty on them and excepted the offer of their lives only in part and changed the women Fontwell into a turtle and the man a shark to live together eternally.

CORK GROWS ON TREES

CORK GROWS ON TREES
Cork trees grow all over the place . There were so many that there were lots growing that not one person could count how many trees there were. The next day a girl name Silvia a new path in one of the gardens . Suddenly ,she saw herself  standing a weird looking tree. When she touch this thick bark it felt like popcorn. It reminded her of something else? Then she nearly forgot  it was soft as well just the cork handle on her fishing rod at home It was the same colour as the cork notice on the board of her bedroom wall The tree wa cork oak. Cork oaks are very special trees because they grow 2 very different kinds of bark . the inside bark holds the trees sap up and down the trunk. The outside which is called the cork ,is like ice-cream and is spongy. Cork goes best in hot places like  south of France and hawahii. their thick ,cork bark keeps them from drying  out in hot weather. Cork dose’nt burn really easilly.

                            southern lights

                                                 Legend
One day a child named Tama -rereti was fascinated by the beautiful sky because there was something magic that appeared in the sky . They were called Southern lights so he laid down on his back and enjoyed watching the southern lights. Suddenly he found some passion and wonderful glory in himself that he asked a man named Tane, the god of forest, for a totara log to build himself a waka boat. He needed tane for help . Tane agreed and the boat building had begun. With his boat he went and looked for lights because he was fascinated by it.The legend is true that  Southern lights are lights that appear in the night glowing sky and they glimmer like glitter, shine like something good was going to happen. The Aurora Aurelius is made by solar wind particles guided by Earth's field lines to the top of the atmosphere. Southern lights are lights that have many colours that are fascinating and interesting for people to see.

Thats the legend of the Southern lights.
